VISITORS to York’s Food and Drink Festival can go back in time and try Viking and medieval food this month.

The JORVIK group’s ‘Roaming Supper’ takes place during the first weekend of the festival, on September 19, and includes a three-course meal, starting at the Viking Centre.

The tour then moves to Barley Hall for a medieval feast, and to DIG in St Saviourgate for dessert.

Sarah Maltby, director of attractions for York Archaeological Trust, said: “The York Festival of Food and Drink is such a popular event, with people trying all sorts of new and exciting foods. We wanted to make sure people visitors and residents got the chance to try some of the great dishes , prepared using local ingredients, which were available to the city’s citizens in the past, in complimentary settings.”
