A PICNIC will be held close to Millennium Bridge to raise awareness of climate change and poverty.
York in Transition has teamed up with York Foodbank to host the picnic on Sunday, September 7, and give families the chance to take part in activities and games.
Shelley Battles, a supporter of York in Transition, said: “The idea of a picnic enables us to share the experience of eating communally and be grateful that we have food, in light of those who go hungry, closer to home and throughout the world. A day of fun and games is a perfect way of bringing people of all ages together, where interaction can take place and new and creative ideas can be generated and shared.”
Activities booked so far at this event are parachute games, face painting, henna tattoos, sari fittings and refreshments. The event is free, but donations for the foodbank will be welcome. The picnic begins at 12.30pm.
