YORK Liberal Democrats are asking city residents to air their views before next year’s local elections.

The local party is launching an initiative called York 2015 and asking people to submit their ideas on how to improve life in the city, with the best ideas to be considered for inclusion the Lib Dem manifesto for May’s election.

Lib-Dem group leader Keith Aspden said: “The Liberal Democrats are the only party in Britain whose policy is decided democratically by our members.

“We now want to take this further in York and develop our local manifesto hand-in-hand with local residents.”

He said they wanted to hear about things that matter to people in York – from congestion to local businesses to improving services – and if they win the local election they will start implementing the policies from May.
