IT was a spectacularly muddy weekend for driver near York this weekend.

This was the scene at the York Autograss meeting on the track near the A59, which enjoyed extremes of weather.

Conditions were so dry and sunny on Saturday, the track needed to be watered down to improve conditions for the 140 or so drivers.

But then heavy rain fell overnight on Saturday and into Sunday creating these bog-like conditions.

Martyn Tinker, chairman of York Autograss Club, said: "Saturday was a glorious summer day, Sunday was completely the opposite," adding the event was enjoyable on both days.

The two-day meeting saw racing and displays attracting people from all over the country.

The forecast for the rest of the week is relatively unsettled with spells of rain forecast for today and throughout the rest of the week.
