THE Rotary Club of York Vikings has raised thousands of pounds for a York refuge for victims of domestic abuse to help fund a series of summer treats.
Club president Peter Acaster presented a cheque for £2,855 to Corrina Dobson, of the Independent Domestic Abuse Service (IDAS) based in York.
The club , which has supported IDAS for a number of years at Christmas, decided to help with a series of summer events.
It funded a series of activities from a trip to the local pool to trips to the seaside over the school holiday period, saying some of the families had never had holidays and some of the children had never seen the sea.
