TWO York bus drivers are off to Glasgow to help transport elite athletes and spectators around the Commonwealth Games.

First York drivers Chris Booth-Malone and Robert Armstrong have volunteered to join a 700-strong driving pool in Glasgow for First Bus, which has won contracts to transport athletes, officials and the media, as-well as provide spectator shuttle services.

Chris, who’s been a driver at First for seven years, said he was proud to be part of the 2014 Games. “We’ll be going all out to set new driving and customer service personal bests,” he said.

Robert said: “The Games are the talk of the canteen. I’m hoping to be fortunate enough to transport some athletes.”

Business manager Will Pearson, said: “I’m delighted that two of our drivers are to be part of the First team this summer and I’ve no doubt they will act as fine ambassadors for First York.”
