VOLUNTEERS considering becoming a Special Constable with North Yorkshire Police have been urged to take part in an online webchat.

The webchat takes place between 6pm and 7pm on Thursday (JUL 24), and will be hosted by Special Chief Officer Jerry Holland, who will answer any questions about what being a Special Constable involves and how to join the service.

SCO Holland, who is the most senior Special Constable in North Yorkshire Police, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to join North Yorkshire Police as a Special Constable and become a member of a team making a real difference in the communities we serve. If you have ever thought about volunteering this is a great chance to learn more about the role.

"We are hoping to attract applications from a broad range of backgrounds and ages. There isn’t an upper limit, you simply need to be physically fit, be in good health and have good eyesight. Having been a Special Constable for many years, I know just how rewarding this crucial role is."
