VOLUNTEERS are needed to take part in clearing a York meadow.
The Friends of Rawcliffe Meadows are a voluntary group belonging to the York Natural Environment Trust, and will host a work party on Sunday, May 4, between 10.30am and 1pm, to cut back thistles and other weeds.
The areas around the tansy clumps, home to the tansy beetles which make the meadows a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), will also be cleared, giving volunteers the chance to see the rare insect.
