YORK Farm Stay members from across the region have come together for a triple celebration – English Tourism Week, a new member and the success of their charity recipe book.
Around 50 women contributed to the recipe book, which has raised nearly £7,000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Lisa Preston, of Pickersgill Manor Farm, near Skipton, said: “Farmers have a lot of time for the Air Ambulance. It’s often farmers who see them working first hand.”
The ladies have a target of £10,000 and Lisa said: “I’m absolutely confident we’ll reach it.”
When pushed to reveal the book’s best recipe, she said: “It would have to be my granola.”
She added: “I have tried most of the recipes. We have all made our recipes many times and know they work well.”
The celebration, complete with champagne drunk from wellie-shaped glasses, was held at Spruisty Hall Farm, Killinghall, which has recently joined Farm Stay.
It precedes a hectic time for the members, as the seasons for lambing and tourism get under way.
Lisa said: “We are all quite busy. Hosting and farming go well together really, as people book in advance to visit and know what to expect.”
