FAMILIES in York who are looking to adopt a child can get more information at an event next week.
City of York Council will hold an information event with North Yorkshire County Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council which will provide an informal opportunity for anybody interested in adoption to find out more about what is involved.
Across the country, 4,000 children are waiting to find an adoptive family, and one in four are unlikely to succeed.
Councillor Janet Looker, the York council’s cabinet member for education, children and young people, said: “We are looking to recruit people who are willing to offer a child a permanent, loving home, whatever their age, status or situation.”
