Missionary Ruth Deeth recalls Amin jail horror
8:04am Wednesday 11th July 2012 in Harrogate and Ripon news
A NORTH Yorkshire woman who was imprisoned in Uganda under the brutal dictatorship of Idi Amin has written a book about her ordeal.
Ruth Deeth, of Ripon, was working as a Christian missionary at a bush hospital in 1975 when she was arrested on the charge of “confusing religions”.
She was thrown into a filthy jail in Kampala, and has now recorded the experience in a book, Where Love Leads You.
She will be signing copies of her book at The Little Ripon Book Shop, in Westgate, between 10.30am and 12.30pm on Saturday. Proceeds will go to the places in East Africa where Ruth worked.
