Man cut free from crashed car

FIREFIGHTERS used cutting equipment to rescue a man trapped in a car following a two vehicle smash in North Yorkshire.

Police and two fire crews were called to the incident, which happened on Church Square, Harrogate, shortly before 3pm yesterday.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said they used hydraulic cutting equipment to rescue the male driver of one of the vehicles. He was taken to hospital by ambulance with head, shoulder and neck injuries.

His condition is described as not serious.

The female driver of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries in the incident.
