Get on the trail of the click beetle

BUG hunters are invited to take part in a conservation exercise this weekend to monitor the population of a rare beetle.

The chestnut click beetle is found at only two locations in Britain – Birk Cragg near Harrogate and an area of soft cliffs on the Isle of Wight.

However, the distinctive bug, with its chestnut brown colour and feathery antenna, has not been seen at its Harrogate home for some years.

The hunt starts at 1pm at the Harrogate Arms pub, Crag Lane, and will last for two hours.

Places are limited so anyone interested is asked to book a place by phoning Vicky Kindemba on 07584 490168 or by email at vicky.kindemba@buglife.org.uk
