A NORTH Yorkshire cathedral has been chosen to host a service for the region to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The service will take place at 3.30pm on Sunday, June 3, at Ripon Cathedral, including fanfares and special anthems to mark the occasion.
It will be attended by members of the North Yorkshire Lord Lieutenancy, the monarch’s representatives in the region, as well as the Bishops of Ripon and Leeds and Knaresborough. It is open to anybody who wishes to attend.
“The Queen is not only the Head of State, but also the head of the Church of England,” said the Very Reverend Keith Jukes, the Dean of Ripon.
“It is our great privilege to mark all her years of dedicated service and to give thanks for all that she has contributed to so many people throughout her lifetime.”
