POLICE have made a fresh appeal for witnesses after a cash machine was stolen.
Thieves used a JCB digger to remove the ATM from the Co-op store in Park Street, Masham, on Monday, before taking it away in a stolen Mitsubishi.
A 27-year-old man from the Bishop Auckland area, has been released on bail and a second man remains in police custody for a separate offence. The thieves did not manage to get into the machine and all of the money was recovered.
Detective Sergeant Dave Horne, of Harrogate CID, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the JCB and Mitsubishi travelling together prior to the theft, or may have seen the thieves as they tried to gain access to the machine.”
