THE former chairman of North Yorkshire County Council, Coun John Savage, has announced he is to leave the county’s Conservative group.
Coun Savage will remain as the county councillor for Ainsty division and as councillor for Marston Moor ward for Harrogate Borough Council.
Coun Savage said his decision was due to misgivings about national and local financial cuts put forward by his party, which “had made his position intolerable”.
