A CRIME charity is offering £1,000 to anyone with information about an incident which saw a couple tied up as their house was burgled.

Crimestoppers will reward people who come forward after masked men forced their way into the house, in South Park Road, Harrogate, around 6.15pm on Tuesday.

The elderly pair were tied up as three men in hoods and masks stole around £200 in cash and some jewellery.

Once the men had left the property, the victims managed to untie themselves and contact their daughter, who called the police.

Gemma Wilson, the Crimestoppers regional manager, said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the elderly couple to go through and those who committed this crime must be brought to justice.

“We would urge anybody who knows anything to come forward to help.

“If you don’t want to speak to the police, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously. We are not part of the police, but we can take the information you know and pass it on to them.

“If you don’t wish to talk to anybody, you can use our anonymous online form at crimestoppers-uk.org”
