POLICE are hunting for witnesses after a car collided with a police vehicle and then a bus in Harrogate.

Just before midnight on Saturday, October 25 a blue Peugeot 106 - driving towards Knaresborough - collided with a black and red Harrogate and District bus going in the opposite direction on Knaresborough Road, near the junction with Newnham Street.

None of the passengers were injured but the 53 year old bus driver was left with minor injuries and was treated at Harrogate District Hospital.

The driver of the Peugeot, a 35-year-old woman from Harrogate, was also treated for minor injuries and later released from hospital.

But just before the crash with the bus, the Peugeot had crashed into a parked police vehicle on Globe Street, before driving off towards Knaresborough Road.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed either of the collisions to contact them.

The driver of the Peugeot was arrested and has been charged with dangerous driving, failing to report an accident, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, driving without insurance and an MOT offence, and is due before magistrates in Harrogate next month.

Anyone who can help police should call 101, select option 2 and ask for Traffic Constable Andrew Morton, or email Andrew.morton@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk, quoting reference 12140184605.
