PHOTOGRAPHER John Williamson is exhibiting at Harrogate Spring Flower Show at the Great Yorkshire Showground until Sunday.

His work is being shown in the art and craft marquee, where his images of life and landscapes are available as limited and open-edition photographic prints.

Part of his latest Moving Pictures collection is on display in the show’s VIP area too, Moving Pictures being the name he has given to the new photographic technique he has developed.

“For some years now, I’ve been experimenting with my camera to photograph images with depth, perspective and proportion to create an impressionist quality, which is difficult to discern from an oil or watercolour,” he says. The photographs look ethereal, using light to accentuate movement in a manner reminiscent of the French Impressionists.

John’s landscape and travel work has appeared in many galleries and he has done commissions for magazines, calendars and travel companies. His passion for photography has seen him criss-cross the world, capturing the grace and beauty of the National Dance Company of Cuba, the lavender fields of Provence and the tea plantations and stilt fishermen of Southern India. His library of images also features landscapes, people and events throughout Europe and the United States.

John has just returned from a photographic trip in Morocco and is exhibiting at the Biscuit Factory, the art, craft and design gallery in Newcastle, as well as at this week’s flower show. His work can be viewed at johnwilliamson.co.uk
