MPs were urged to get fitter when North Yorkshire Sport celebrated its change in status by visiting Westminster.
The community sport organisation now has charitable status which it hopes will make it easier to work with local businesses to encourage grass roots sport participation and physical activity in the county and to respond better to communities' sporting needs.
When members of North Yorkshire Sport met MPs they challenged the politicians to join the Workplace Challenge and log their own personal levels of activity.
Harrogate MP Andrew Jones. who is the county's parliamentary sports champion, said: βIt was good to hear how North Yorkshire Sport is driving the delivery of sport in our region. I am convinced that North Yorkshire Sport will continue to play a lead role and co-ordinate local partners to achieve great things within our community across sport, health and education and I look forward to seeing them move forward under this new status.β
