POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 25-year-old man died in a North Yorkshire crash.
The man, who was of German nationality and has not yet been named, died as a result of the collision on the A658 near Kirkby Overblow at 4pm yesterday.
His family is due to travel to the UK today.
He was a passenger in a German registered Ford C-Max which collided with a Toyota Amazon 4 X 4 travelling in the opposite direction towards Buttersyke Bar, towing a trailer loaded with scaffolding.
The driver of the Ford, a 49-year-old Polish man, was taken to Harrogate District Hospital with serious injuries where he remains in a serious but stable condition. Both men were working in the UK for a German company.
The driver of the Toyota, a 24-year-old man from the Menston area, was taken to Harrogate District Hospital where he was detained overnight with minor injuries.
The road was closed for six hours while emergency services dealt with the collision.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision and for anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the crash.
