Man dies in North Yorkshire car crash

A 21-year-old man has died in a car crash in North Yorkshire.

The crash happened at about 12.15am this morning, when the silver Ford Focus he was driving crashed into a tree on the B6162 Otley Road near Harrogate.

The man, who is believed to be from West Yorkshire and has not yet been identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles are thought to have been involved.

Traffic Sergeant Trevor Burton, of North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group, said: “Unfortunately, this collision has resulted in the death of a young man and we need to establish exactly how the incident occurred.”

North Yorkshire Police have urged anyone who saw the crash or the vehicle before the incident, to contact them on 101 or email trevor.burton@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
