POLICE in North Yorkshire are hunting vandals after a spate of criminal damage in a North Yorkshire town.

A number of incidents occurred in Harrogate between Monday, December 17 and last Saturday, when yobs sprayed graffiti in the underpass leading from Norwood Grove to the Hydro from Oakbank and on telephone exchange boxes in Euclid Avenue, Hartwith Road and Jennyfield Drive.

PCSO Michael Smith, of Harrogate Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This type of mindless vandalism is utterly pointless and the vandals need to be caught as they need to understand the negative impact it has on our communities.

“I ask people to take a look at graffiti tags to see if they can identify those responsible. If you can put names to the vandals, or may have witnessed the damage taking place, please contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.”

Anyone who can help the police with their enquiries is asked to phone police on 101. Alternatively information can be emailed to michael.smith@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk, or information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
