A PRESTIGE car auction at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate has raised more than £1 million.

The Bonhams auction saw more than 470 motor car, motorcycle and automobilia lots sell for a combined total of £1,096,483.

They included a restored “barn-find” Ferrari 330GT Coupe, which sold for £68,700, more than twice its pre-sale estimate.

An eight-seater 1931 Rolls-Royce shooting brake, once used as an ambulance, sold for £35,667, and a 1940s military field kitchen beat its top estimate to sell for £2,300.

Tim Schofield, head of the Bonhams UK Motor Car Department, said: “This was one of the busiest Harrogate sales I’ve witnessed over the past 10 years or so, we must have had more than 1,000 people attending. It was a great success.”
