Gambling policies in the spotlight
9:17am Friday 6th July 2012 in Hambleton news
RESIDENTS in Hambleton and Richmondshire are being asked for their views on gambling policies introduced in the districts almost three years ago.
The two district councils for the areas are reviewing their “statements of gambling policy” which regulate commercial betting.
The policies were brought in when new Government legislation gave local authorities more say about issuing licences to businesses such as bingo halls and bookmakers.
“We are not proposing any changes to our existing policies, but would like to hear what local people think of them and our proposal to leave them unchanged.” said Philip Mepham, environmental health manager for the two councils.
The policies can be viewed at hambleton.gov.uk and richmondshire.gov.uk and responses must be received by September 23.
