Floodlit sports pitch opens at Thirsk school

A NEW £144,000 floodlit sports pitch has been opened at a North Yorkshire school.

The facility at Thirsk Secondary School has been resurfaced and will be used by pupils as well as residents who use Thirsk and Sowerby Leisure Centre.

Saturday’s official opening saw the ribbon cut by Alexandra Teasdale, England Hockey Ltd’s national manager for clubs and facilities, with local councillors and members of Thirsk Hockey Club, which held its end-of-season day with games and presentations, also attending.
