DROP-IN support groups for people with alcohol or drugs problems are running throughout the Christmas period.

North Yorkshire Horizons is running drop-in sessions for anyone struggling over Christmas and the New Year.

Alcohol support sessions will be running on Monday, December 22 and December 29 between 11am and 1pm and Tuesday, December 23 and December 30 and Wednesday, December 31, between 6pm and 8pm.

The sessions will run from North Yorkshire Horizon’s premises at 5 The Applegarth in Northallerton. There will also be a Christmas Eve drop-in with a festive buffet with food donated by local businesses between 10am and 4pm.

A Narcotics Anonymous group will be run on Wednesday, December 24 and 31 with transport from the Applegarth centre to Harrogate.

North Yorkshire Horizons is an amalgamation of a number of charities and organisations. which previously ran help or support services in the county.

They have now been brought together under one single organisation, commissioned by North Yorkshire County Council.

The service provides treatment and recovery support to adults with drug and alcohol dependency. and has a new emphasis on problems caused by legal highs and psychoactive substances. It is also open to anyone over the age of 18 who misuses drugs or anyone who is a harmful or dependent drinker.
