A £5 MILLION ten-year plan for the future of Hambleton will be open for scrutiny this month.

Local residents, businesses and stakeholders will be able to have their say on Hambleton District Council’s proposed economic strategy.

Council leader, Coun Mark Robson, said that councillors were keen to ensure that residents and business owners agreed with the plan and that they had not missed any possible opportunities for further development.

He said: “The district council’s recent economic study has identified four key priorities for investment over the next ten years including business support, inward investment, driving growth and vibrant market towns.

“They will drive our ambitions to make Hambleton an even better place to live, work and do business in.”

The consultation period, which closes on Monday November 3, will ask for views on those priorities, where key investments should be made and ways to drive the programme forward. Businesses will also be asked to show interest if they wish to get involved.

The council has so far dedicated a £5 million fund for economic growth and regeneration for the duration of the strategy.

Coun Robson said: “By consulting with the very people who matter most to us we can ensure we take on board comments and ideas as far as possible.”
