AN ANNUAL day of fashion and glamour is returning to Thirsk next month.
The town’s racecourse will host its Ladies Day event on September 6, and the venue is offering a cash prize to the best dressed.
There will be £300 fashion vouchers up for grabs, courtesy of Barkers of Northallerton, for the winners of the Best Dressed Lady and Best Dressed Gentleman competitions and a Jenny Roberts Millinery bespoke hat for the Winner of the Best Ladies’ Hat.
The winner of the Thirsk Ladies’ Day Best Dressed Lady competition will go through to the Go Racing in Yorkshire Best Dressed Grand Final at Doncaster on Saturday, October 25, alongside winners from all the other Yorkshire tracks.
Sophia Monkman, marketing manager at Thirsk Racecourse, said: “Our Best Dressed Lady and Best Dressed Gentleman competitions are hotly contested, with some of our racegoers coming back year after year hoping to win the competition.
“Warrior, our willow horse sculpture, has even got his eye on this year’s prize.”
