Former firefighter rescues elderly man
A FORMER firefighter rescued an elderly man from his North Yorkshire home after it filled with smoke.
The 85-year-old was rescued after a fire started in his Sowerby home just before 11pm on Friday.
The fire caused damage to the room and smoke damage throughout the remainder of the property. He was checked over by ambulance staff as a precautionary measure.
