A WOMAN suffered a serious sexual assault at Catterick Garrison.
Detectives from North Yorkshire Police are investigating the incident, which occurred near to The Chase in Catterick Road at about 4am on Saturday.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said the victim was a local woman, aged in her early twenties, and an area was cordoned off throughout Saturday to allow an examination and search of the scene.
The woman is receiving specialist support while the investigation continues.
Detective Chief Inspector Allan Harder, of the Major Crime Unit, said: “If you were in the area of The Chase on Catterick Road at around this time, I ask that you to come forward and contact the police as you may have vital information which could help this investigation.”
