POPPLETON Ousebank Primary School has received a positive inspection report from Ofsted.
The school in Main Street, Upper Poppleton, which has more than 400 pupils aged up to 11, was inspected last month and was rated "good" overall by inspectors. It was also rated "outstanding" for its capacity to make improvements where and when they are deemed necessary.
In his report the inspector, Philip Callow, said: "This is a good school which has continued to improve well since its last inspection. The school is extremely well placed to continue its improvement because leadership and management are good. Pupils enjoy coming to school and so their attendance is above average and they behave well.
"Standards are above average at the end of Year 6. Results in the national tests in English have been significantly above average."
Mr Callow felt the school could improve by consistently providing work that stretches pupils who are between the ages of seven and 11. He also said the same pupils should be more involved in setting targets so they know how to improve their own work.
