TEACHERS from around North Yorkshire returned to the classroom to learn the art of textile design to take their skills back to share with their pupils.
The classes were organised by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society and are the latest in a series of classes for teachers and teaching assistants on subjects as diverse as willow weaving and poultry raising.
Viv Chapman, a tutor at the Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate, yesterday, said: “The aim is to give teachers ideas to pass on to their pupils and show them that this sort of practical work is not too daunting.”
She said: “It’s a great way for children to express themselves and be creative.
“I think sometimes people can be frightened of having a go – this is what the course is all about – letting teachers have a try and see what can be achieved.”
