Millthorpe School’s deputy head teacher, Gareth Davies, plays dead for pupils during their murder-mystery event
BUDDING sleuths at Millthorpe School in York took part in a murder-mystery event as part of an extended learning day.
Deputy head Gareth Davies wrote the mystery on a training day when the school was closed and empty.
He said: “There are about 40 clues hidden all over the school and the grounds for the students to uncover, made up of things like newspaper cuttings and formal and informal letters.”
The story follows Mr Black, a former head teacher in the 1930s who, one cold February night, was pushed down the stairs. So far the mystery has not been solved.
Mr Davies said: “It is really hard because there are lots of red herrings, sub plots and characters. There are about seven suspects or eight if you include the school ghost, the lavender lady. The kids really enjoyed it and are still guessing who the culprit really is.”
