A YORK university has seen the highest number of applications in the north of England.
University of York St John has bucked the national trend of falling course numbers and seen an 11 per cent rise in applications ahead of the first year of higher fees.
This represents the fifth highest increase in applications out of universities in England and means the university is witnessing the highest increase in applications in the north of England.
The university’s vice chancellor, Prof David Fleming, said the university’s package of financial support to some students will bring the average cost of its fees down to £7,440.
Prof Fleming said: “The community on campus and in the city makes this a great place to come and study.”
