THE popularity of celebrity science television shows is believed to be behind an increase in applications for physics-related degrees at the University of York.
According to University And Colleges Admission Service, programmes including Stargazing Live and Wonders Of The Universe, both featuring Professor Brian Cox, and US sitcom The Big Bang Theory, have seen an average 8.3 per cent rise in applications for physics-related degrees at universities across the country, with the University of York seeing an 11.2 per cent increase.
