GREEN-FINGERED youngsters designed and built mini show gardens for a Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) competition.
Elizabeth Balmforth, curator of RHS Garden Harlow Carr, near Harrogate, returned from the Chelsea Flower Show to oversee the gardening stars of the future in the Budding Gardeners competition.
Twelve schools from the region entered the competition.
Elizabeth said: “Every year this event gets better and I am amazed by the ingenuity and creativity invested in these gardens. With this level of enthusiasm we can be confident that we will be well set in the future with creative gardeners. Who knows, one of these children could be winning gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show in years to come.”
The mini display gardens will be on show at Harlow Carr until Sunday, and visitors are invited to vote for their favourite garden.
