Tadcaster Grammar School pupils send shoeboxes packed with goodies to Swaziland and Belarus as part of Operation Christmas Child

More than 70 shoeboxes are on their way to Swaziland and Belarus, thanks to the generosity of Year Eight students from Tadcaster Grammar School.

The boxes are all part of Operation Christmas Child, a project organised by The Samaritan’s Purse.

Paul Walker, head of Year Eight, wanted to motivate his year group to send as many boxes as possible. He said: “To launch the appeal I showed the my Year Eight group a video of a child receiving a shoebox from last year’s appeal.

“He was jumping up and down and was so excited that this really had an impact on the students.”

Last year, more than 1.2 million shoeboxes packed with goodies were wrapped, packed and sent to children in disadvantaged situations by the generosity of people in the UK.
