students spent a busy day at a North Yorkshire school.
Year Eight pupils at Tadcaster Grammar School took part in a European Day of Languages, while Year Tens invited Year Sevens to breakfast for the Macmillan 18th World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
Each of the nine forms in Year Ten decided on different themes, including hot dogs, croissants and a healthy option of strawberries.
Joyce Harrison, the head of Year Ten, said: “It is hoped that we will raise in excess of £500.
“We wanted to participate in this worthy cause, not only to raise awareness of the wonderful work Macmillan does, but as a way of welcoming new starters to Tadcaster Grammar.”
Year Eights were participating in events as part of the European Day of Languages. Lisa Gibbs, Key Stage 3 co-ordinator and language teacher, said: “We have been organising activities all week, including bingo in French and German, a European quiz, a poetry competition and encouraging students and staff to speak in a different language other than English during registration.
“I organised a Year Eight continental café, offering students a taste of continental cuisine.”
