The CPP Group has become the latest company to form a partnership with Archbishop Holgate’s School, in York.

The school has been at the centre of attention in recent months since it announced its pilot programme for post-16 provision, which coincided with its £4 million plans to build a sixth-form block by 2013.

The new block, to be called Learning Centre@AHS, will accommodate 160 new students and contain state-of-the- art technology, offering students courses in subjects such as business, IT and engineering. The school welcomed its first sixth-formers earlier this month and since then it has announced new partnerships with businesses. Students will benefit significantly from these partnerships, as each student will be given a business mentor to encourage them and to provide information about how academic learning can relate to the business world.

Head teacher John Harris said: “We look forward to further developing links with CPP as we move towards the full launch of post-16 provision in September 2009.”
