PUPILS at a North Yorkshire school were greeted by a new head teacher when they returned from their summer holidays this week.
Jill Baker began her first headship at Longman’s Community Primary School, in Selby, on Tuesday – after moving from Tang Hall Primary School, in York, in July.
Jill, 36, spent seven years at the York school, working as an assistant head teacher and a maths co-ordinator.
She has taken over in Selby from Jane Guy, who left the school at the end of last term for an appointment in London.
Jill, who has spent 14 years in the teaching profession, said: “I am looking forward to the challenge of teaching an outstanding school and continuing its success.”
She and husband Ed, a landscape gardener, have a three-year-old son, George.
Outside school, Jill said she tries to spend lots time with George, touring in her caravan and visiting family in her home town of Wigan.
