A FORMER school's transformation into an eco dream took its first steps to becoming a reality when a "green" housing development was unveiled.
Ryedale MP John Greenway formally opened a crucial part of a pioneering project to build green homes at Kirkdale Manor, in Nawton, near Helmsley.
Top of the agenda for developers were environmentally-friendly features such as a £100,000 biomass central heating system and rainwater recycling network, costing £25,000.
Mr Greenway said: "This development realises the vision of housing with reduced environmental impact, so I am particularly delighted that it is here in Ryedale."
Set in 18 acres of grounds, the gated residential development will range from conversions to new build housing and apartments. Prices range between £250,000 and £695,000.
