Teachers praised at national ceremony
8:52am Friday 13th July 2012 in East Yorkshire news
THREE teachers from East Yorkshire have been recognised for their achievements in the classroom at a national awards ceremony.
PE teachers Neil Poskitt and Ryan Saunders, and science teacher David Nicoline, all from Goole High School, attended the 2012 Lilac Sky Annual Education Awards at The Barbican in London.
Mr Poskitt and Mr Saunders received the “being there award”, whilst Mr Nicoline won the award for “fun in the classroom”, after they were nominated by Goole High School assistant head John Jones.
In his nomination, Mr Jones said: “Ryan and Neil, as with so many other PE teachers across the country, already contribute huge amounts of their time to support various extra curricular activities.
However, what stands them apart from others is the extra mile they go to contribute to the school beyond this already significant role.”
Mr Nicoline’s highlights this year have included attending non-uniform days at school as both a “chav” in pink and a scuba diver.
Mr Jones said: “This sense of fun and banter that David establishes with the children he works with translate into fantastic relationships and brilliant student outcomes, as well as incredible participation in the eco club that he runs after school.”
