Plea to beat van thieves

POLICE have issued a plea to residents to help beat travelling criminals are targeting vehicles in villages across East Yorkshire.

This follows a spate of car and van break-ins in the area over recent weeks, including three incidents between Sunday and Monday in the Market Weighton area, as reported in The Press yesterday.

Sergeant Pete Rogers called on residents to lock their vehicles and park them somewhere secure, and to remove anything of value from them.

He said: “Vans are being targeted for power tools. Please take them out of your vehicle overnight and ensure that something indicating that no tools are left overnight is displayed on your vehicle.”
