Driffield’s canal in spotlight

POSSIBILITIES for developing an East Yorkshire town’s canal will be discussed at a meeting next week.

Initial talks have been held between Driffield Navigation Trust, the Driffield Partnership and the East Riding and North Yorkshire Waterways Partnership about forming a group dedicated to improving the canal area of Driffield.

The formation of a Driffield Canal Partnership will be discussed at an event on Thursday, May 24, between 6pm and 7.30pm at Driffield Community Centre.

David Hamilton, who chairs the navigation trust, said: “Working together through the partnership would enable a variety of groups, organisations and local businesses to agree a long-term plan for the Driffield Canal and seek substantial investment which benefits the town’s community, natural environment and economy.”
