POLICE have appealed for witnesses to come forward after a 30-year-old man was assaulted outside a pub in Pocklington.
The victim, who is from the town, was smoking outside the Flying Man pub in Market Street at about 1.45am on Saturday when a man approached him and pulled his woolly hat from his head.
As the hat's owner tried to pick it up, the other man pushed him and punched him in the face, sending him falling to the ground. He suffered a chipped tooth and three of his bottom teeth were loosened, while his eye, face and shoulder were grazed and he was left with swelling to his nose.
The victim was taken to York Hospital for treatment and Humberside Police, who believe several people were in the area at the time of the attack, have appealed for anybody with information to contact the force on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
