CHILDREN from Stamford Bridge Primary School took part in a fundraising event in support of a local swimming pool.
The pupils took part in a sponsored swim at the school on Saturday, which was the first event in an 18-month initiative to help replace equipment at the pool.
Volunteer Jess Fox helps run the facility, and said the event, called Save Our Aging Pool (SOAP), hoped to raise the first £2,000 towards new equipment.
She said: “There were about 95 swimmers, a mixture of ages, who swam a total of 35.86 miles.
“We raised £950 from the Big Eat cafe on the day, and all the children were given a bun for taking part, and we’re hoping to double that once the sponsorship money comes in.”
