CHRISTMAS has come early – very early – for the children’s ward at York Hospital.
The 2011 festive period may only have just drawn to a close, but staff at Langlands Nurseries Ltd in Shiptonthorpe were already looking ahead to this year’s festivities when they donated Christmas decorations and toys worth more than £520 to the ward.
Langlands had a number of decorations and toys left over after Christmas just gone, and decided they would like to support a local charity by donating these items.
Hattie Sparke, human resources and marketing assistant at Langlands said, “Langlands had some Christmas decorations and toys left over which would not fit into next year’s Christmas plan so we decided that we would like to donate to a good cause.” Lucy Watson, fundraising manager at York Hospital said: “We would like to thank Langlands for such a generous donation to our children’s ward and hospital.
“We are always so grateful for the support we receive as I know what a difference this makes.
“The Christmas decorations will be a great addition on the ward next Christmas and I am sure the children will really enjoy the toys.”
