THIS winter’s unseasonally warm weather has encouraged millions of snowdrops at Burton Agnes Hall to bloom weeks earlier than usual.

In response, Head Gardener Jeremy Palmer has brought forward the annual Snowdrop Spectacular opening at the Elizabethan home near Bridlington, to allow visitors to see the historic woodland floor’s magnificent white carpet - of flowers in full bloom.

Simon Cunliffe-Lister said: "Snowdrops are exceptionally hardy, and this winter has been just too mild for the tough little plants. This is the first time in the fifteen years of our snowdrop opening that we have opened earlier than planned. There is no more enchanting place to walk than amongst the bobbing heads of snowdrops in the woodland - grab your boots and make the most of the mild winter weather.

The Snowdrop Spectacular runs from January 31 to March 8, from 11am to 4pm every day.
