THE 2015 programme of East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Countryside Events has been launched online.

Events, many of which are free, include searching for bats and moths, walking disused railway lines, and taking part in the Big Garden Birdwatch.

Part of the programme is Phoenix, a wildlife and environmental group for young people aged between 12 and 18, which gives them a chance to take part in conservation activities on nature reserves, supported by RSPB volunteers.

Councillor Richard Burton, portfolio holder for civic wellbeing and culture, said: “This is a superb programme of events for East Riding residents in a range of locations across the area, offering a wide variety of activities. People can enjoy interesting and healthy pursuits whilst gaining the access to the best public viewpoints, the best landscapes and the best wildlife to be seen in the East Riding.”

The full programme is available at eastriding.gov.uk/events or a hard copy is available from Tourist Information Centres, the council’s leisure centres and libraries.
